weekend in scotland

today (actually yesterday)   was the best day ever. why? because meli and i got to sleep in while mom and martin took an adventure on a train! we slept till our hearts content. melinda hasn't been feeling to well, a little bit of a sore throat. then meli and i got ready to go out and see the town. since we were really hungry we went to eat some fish and chips, and chicken nuggets. on our walk we saw many kids coming out of school. we passed by an art gallery which was nice. took some photos even though you're "not suppose to". then we found a frame shop. and i promise you melinda and i walked into every open store, just to check each of them out.
around 5:00 i was worried that we didn't get a call from martin so i decided that we should start heading back to scot house since we have a dinner appointment at gillys house. surprising enough when we got to our room mommy was sleeping, so we had some time to take another short nap. yaya!
once we got up and dressed to go to our casual dinner we walked our way up the street to see gilly and david. the second we got there we were showered with drinks and treats. for dinner we ate fish and melinda even had a double portion!!! it was delish! our hosts were completely lovely. jokes, and stories were shared. and more wine was had. and then more wine. and then right when we were feeling just right with our cheesecake dessert, david poured us some whisky... and we got toasty.
so, today, today... saturday we packed our things while feeling a little tipsy... except mom. she felt great. (show off LOL). we ate at a little cafe, then made our way to inverness the city close to where nessie lives. no sighting of her, though. i'm pretty sure the off and on rain kept her away, but it didn't keep us away. we played in the rain. on our way back the estate of ardverikie castle, where we are staying at the gallivie farm house, with a crowded car we stopped at the grocery store to pick up some goodies. now we are getting cozy by watching tv and unpacking our things. can't wait to see this house full in the next few days.

love,

A Full Day!

Hello everyone!
Today was productive to say the least...

Today we ran errands in the town...
Spoke to Jillie about food and drinks, Louise about flower arrangements, Mhary about our ceremony hall. And all before the sun went down, oh wait, its still up!  Quite a lovely day all in all. Now I hope to get some tea for my dying throat and some food for my belly.

Kingussie

Good Night - We are in KingUssie! Yeppies! We got here a little later then planned, but it's all good. Had a very nice dinner and drinks at Silverjford. (Spelling is correct). I ate risotto for the first time, it was AMAZING! I didn't think I would like it, but i defo fell in love with it. Melinda ate this very good duck with mashpotatos, mom had fish, and martin ate pheasant. After dinner an arrange of desserts and wine were had. When we got back to the Scot House (where we reside for the next 4 days) I litterally passed out. Tomorrow we must wake up early.

June19th, 2012 Tuesday

June 19, 2012 Tuesday . I am absolutely exhausted. It's almost midnight, but I must write a few lines to update you all. We checked out of our hotel in Edinburgh around noon today, left our luggage stored there and off we went to get cell phones, visit Edinburgh Castle (since yesterday was too late to go in) and also a little bit of shopping. Martin was at the park near by since the girls and I had stopped to shop in H&M. Then we stopped at the park, which was beautiful and full of people. As I was filming Melissa talking on camera, Melinda walked away taking pictures of the beautiful  view.  Since we could not find either of them and Melissa started to worry about Melinda, I decided to get her some ice- cream, but the weather was cold (okay not really - but colder than Texas) and she was not feeling well,  so I ended up getting her Fish and Chips. Finally we saw Martin coming up the stairs and after a while Melissa saw Melinda walking toward us.  Full day at the Palace then we left the city toward  Kingussie. After two and half hours traveling around the highlands we got to our second destination, dead and tired, dinner at this fancy restaurant the only one open at this time in the village (quite expensive).  Oh well see ya later. (picture will follow). Mirian

Holyrood or Hollywood ????

message to yo bro - when you come here, please see that the street signs are not on the corner of everystreet, they are actually on the side of the buildings. and sometimes the building isn't in sight, so they put it on the corner of the fence!?! weird! just wanted to give you a heads up. love ya! sissy

Ok . We were lucky to find a hotel on the main street in Edinburgh "Royal  Mile". There are tons of shops, cafes,  churches, and pubs, and several museums. At one end is the Queen's official residence in Scotland. Holyrood Palace is just beautiful; the gardens are in bloom and the old trees are enormous. We toured the palace, then we had lunch at the cafe in the palace's grounds. Melissa was ever so kind and kept offering to take pictures for the other tourists. Melinda was taking pictures of us and Martin of course was having fun taking pictures of the girls taking pictures of this and that. I saw a statue of a man made in 1168, that is the oldest thing I have ever seen; just incredible. We also went to a  museum where every room had a fire place and some of the rooms had two fire places; one on each end. One of the rooms had 1800's costumes so Melinda and Melissa put then on (picture will follow later). Martin and I went to have a nice dinner at this restaurant where the legend says that the Union Treaty between England and Scotland was signed, while Melissa and Melinda dressed themselves pretty and they went to either a pub or a club not sure they will tell me tomorrow or may be not ( LOL).  by Mirian

Hello everyone. Yes, we arrived this morning in Edinburg Scotland, everything went well on the airport. Melissa's large and very heavy carry-on went just fine through the airport checkout Yehhhhh. We went walking about the town, had lunch in a little Cafe, went to check the train station, got some post cards, took tons of pictures and got pizza for dinner, and yes we have to take a wee nap this afternoon. Ps: driving in downtown on Sunday in Edinburg is bloody hell for the passangers and of course the driver. Good night! By Mirian
